Kerala is on the verge of a major tourism crisis. The state, which has been dubbed 'God's Own Country' by tourist boards all over the world, has seen a complete shutdown of boat services due to COVID-19 lockdown. According to officials, the tourism centres will follow the strict COVID-19 protocol after reopening.   As a result of the lifting of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, the international tourism destination Thekkady is once again being overrun with tourists. And the authorities have decided to restore all boat services on the lake, which is the area's main attraction.

Thekkady boating time: There will be five boat journeys per day, at 7.30 a.m., 9.30 a.m., 11.15 a.m., 1.15 p.m., & 3.30 p.m.  After the lockdown was partially lifted, boat services were resumed between 9.30 a.m. & 3.30 p.m. Due to the increased number of tourists, the boat services were rescheduled to 7.30 a.m., 11.15 a.m., & 3.30 p.m. The number of journeys each day has now been increased to five.

Thekkady boating charges: The boating fare is Rs. 385 per person. Besides, tourists must pay a Rs 100 Thekkady entry fee and a Rs 100 bus price to go to the boat landing on the Forest Department's bus.  Only if boat tickets were available, could visitors get entry to the Thekkady tourism site.

Boating in Thekkady: It includes a voyage through the waters of Periyar Lake, which surrounds the wildlife sanctuary, & provides a soul-stirring, pleasant experience. The boat service is operated by the KTDC (Kerala Tourism Development Corporation) & the Forest Department. The duration of boating is one and a half hours.
